Faculty leads State Level Workshop on Research Methodology

Dr. Sebastian Joseph led a state level workshop on Introduction to research methodology in history

for the under graduate students drawn from different colleges affiliated with the Mahatma Gandhi

University, organised by the department of History, St. Mary’s College, Manarcaud, Kottayam on 22

August, 2014, for giving training to the UG students in historical research methodology. Conceived

as a full day programme, the workshop was divided in to two sessions, Doing Research in history and

Practicing research in history. In the first session, Dr.Sebastian made a detailed lecture on historical

research methodology right from the identification of research problem to the final drafting of the

thesis. In the second session, student participants were assigned the task of developing research

problems, identifying sources and evolving a methodology. It was attended by selected students from

St.Thomas College, Pala, BCM College, Kottayam, Henry Baker College, Melukavu and the host college.

The workshop was inaugurated by Very. Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Abraham Cor Episcopa, Manager of the

college. Certificates were presented to the student participants by Prof. Rachel Thomas, Principal of the

college.
