The BA History Batch (2023–2026) of the Department of History undertook a field study tour to Hampi and Gokarna from 17–22 January 2026 under the guidance of Dr. Shela Mary Varghese and Mr. Abhilash Augustine.
Students visited major historical and archaeological sites at Hampi, the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, including the Virupaksha Temple, Vittala Temple Complex, Lotus Mahal, and Elephant Stables. The tour also included a visit to Mirjan Fort near Gokarna, an important sixteenth-century coastal fort associated with regional trade networks.
The programme provided students with valuable field-based learning experiences and enhanced their understanding of South Indian history, architecture, and heritage conservation
