Dr. T. I. Poonen Memorial Scholarship Awards, 2024
The Department of History, Union Christian College, Aluva, and the T. I. Poonen Family Trust awarded the Dr. T. I. Poonen Memorial Scholarship Awards on Monday, May 27, 2024, in the presence of Principal Prof. Dr. M. I. Punnoose, Manager Rev. Thomas John, grandson of Dr. T. I. Poonen Commodore T. I. Punnen and Dr. Jenee Peter the HoD of the Department.
Awards were given to Ms. Arathy V. R. and Ms. Krishnapriya Menon for scoring the highest marks in the PG first year and to Ms. Aparna Harish and Ms. Maria George for scoring the highest marks in the UG first year in the years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, respectively.
The T. I. Poonen Family Trust has instituted the award in memory of Prof. Dr. T. I. Poonen, who served in the Department of History at Union Christian College from 1924 to 1947. The trust refunds the first-year toppers of UG and PG the amount remitted by them as fees in the first year of their respective programme.
