Dr.Sebastian Joseph delivered an invited lecture during UGC- National Seminar, Signature of women in environment protection: A history of abiding struggle in India organised by the department of History of St. Mary’s College, Thrissur on 29 September, 2015. In his paper entitled, Paradigm shifts in Indian environmental historiography, he argued that history writing on Indian environment witnessed departures at certain sign posts wherein notions of historiography underwent structural transformations due to existing modes of resource use pattern and relations of power. Problematising divides based on colonial and post colonial discourses on Indian environment, the paper critiqued perspectival differences which sometimes take forms of certain meta narratives, which narrow down the scope of environmental history. Dr. K.Chandran of Christ College, Irinjalakkuda chaired the session and Prof. Mahalakshmi of CHS, JNU was the discussant.
