History Webinar Series-2 ‘Evolution of forest policy in India with special focus on Kerala’

The second webinar organized by the Department of the History under History Webinar Series on the topic “Evolution of forest policy in India with special focus on Kerala” on 21st September 2020.  Resource person for the same was Mr. Pramod Krishnan IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Kerala.

Mr. Krishnan deliberated well on the concept of human intervention into forests and forest conservation since ancient days. Pointing out the major forest acts he also stressed the need for protecting our water resources. Discussions about the frequent climatic changes and the significance of multidisciplinary approaches in environmental studies provided a deep insight for the participants. The webinar was followed by an interactive session. More than 240 members participated in the webinar including teachers and students from various colleges.

Principal Dr. David Saj Mathew, former Principal Dr. Rajan Varghese, Head of the Department Ms. Juby John and Faculty coordinator Dr. Twincy Varghese addressed the gathering.
