On 26 June 2025, third-semester Minor History students visited St. Joseph’s Pontifical Seminary Church in Mangalapuzha, Aluva, under the guidance of Dr. S. M. Varghese. The visit focused on the study of Gothic architecture, highlighting the fusion of European Gothic elements such as pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and stained-glass windows with Kerala’s vernacular building traditions. Students observed how light and structure symbolized divine presence, reflecting St. Augustine’s theological concept of God as Light. The visit also highlighted artistic features such as the Carrara marble altar, malachite columns, and stained-glass windows by Goddard Gibbs. The experience provided students with a rich understanding of architectural, theological, and cultural synthesis.
