On 4 October 2025, students of the Department of History visited Paliam Palace in Chendamangalam during its open hours from 10 AM to 5 PM. The palace, which was the official residence of the Paliath Achans, beautifully combines the traditional Kerala Nalukettu style with Dutch colonial architectural elements. Students explored the Durbar Hall, granary, weapon storage, and other royal artifacts under the guidance of knowledgeable alumni from Union Christian College. The visit provided insights into the administrative and cultural life of the Kingdom of Cochin. Later, the students visited the Paravur Jewish Synagogue, built in 1616 AD, which blends Jewish religious design features with Kerala architectural elements. The synagogue now functions as the Kerala Jews History Museum under the Muziris Heritage Project, offering students a deeper understanding of Kerala’s multicultural heritage.
