Department of History: Programme Specific Outcome
PSO UG History
1. To evaluate the spatial and temporal shifts in Indian and world history
2. To adapt curricula to enable students to be a part of an efficient workforce and for higher
studies in history, and other interdisciplinary subjects
3. To familiarize students with the theories of social sciences and different schools of
historiography
4. To empower students to focus on applied and policy issues in contemporary India
5. To provide programs that allow the students to choose from a wide range of history and other
allied disciplines
6. To ensure an affective learning environment with emphasis on empathy, scientific temperament,
secularism, civic consciousness, and welfare state
PSO PG History
1. To analyze concepts, events and movements of history
2. To evaluate the shifts of power that shaped historiography
3. To build an expertise in Ancient/Medieval/Modern periods of historical studies
4. To understand the values of democracy, humanism, and secularism with a scientific temperament
5. To formulate a Research Problem and Plan a related Research Design
PSO PhD History
1. To realize the relevance of History in knowledge production for the betterment of humanity
2. To get a perspective on his/her area of specialization
3. To develop insights into the theoretical and structural aspects of the discipline
4. To appreciate the area of interest deeply, while maintaining a broader view of the
interdisciplinarity of the discipline of History.
