Affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, the three year programme for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History follows the prescribed syllabus for choice based credit and semester system for undergraduate courses. Conceived in 2009, this syllabus consists of 30 courses to be completed in 6 semesters. These include core courses, complimentary courses and open courses. The programme has also integrated IT into the curriculum as a tool for effective learning and teaching.This programme is based on a multi-disciplinary approach that would offer wide scope for students by familiarizing them with the latest developments in the subject of History making it practically relevant as a knowledge system.
The strong theoretical basis provides an undergraduate familiarity with the various issues and trends in the society at local, national and global level and gives access to proper methods of articulation and presentation in tune with the changing needs and requirements. Above all the programme offers unlimited opportunities to students in future for instance in higher studies, research, and in the preparation of all competitive and related examinations.
